Past Programs - 2008
Luncheon Archive August - Generating Legally Defensible Data: A Sampling and Field Testing Perspective. In recent environmental publications, there is a growing recognition that there are vulnerabilities in field sampling practices which can have a significant effect on data quality. Staff managing field sampling activities needs to be aware of these vulnerabilities and how field records may be challenged in court to develop an effective program. This presentation will discuss areas for concern when managing field sampling, what training is needed to assure records are defensible, and a framework for helping field sampling staff “do the right thing” when under the extreme pressure of being in the field. Finally, the attendees will be introduced to the NELAC Institute’s Standard for field sampling organizations that are based on international quality systems. Speaker: Since 1999, Diane Lawver has been the President and owner of Quality Assurance Solutions, LLC. Quality Assurance Solutions is a quality system consulting company for both public and private environmental testing laboratories who wish to continuously improve their quality systems. QA Solutions also offers services to environmental consultants for laboratory auditing, training, and data assessment for Level II and Level III reports.
